London's Ulez Improves Children's Lung Function

London's Clean Air Zone Proves a Lifesaver for City Kids Research on air pollution in urban areas has long established its negative effects on children.

A study published recently found that after London's ultra low emission zone (Ulez) was introduced in 2019, children's lungs grew bigger and stronger.

The study measured lung capacity in over 3,300 children in London and Luton between 2018 and 2022. The results showed a clear correlation between improved air quality and increased lung function.
