Ebola Outbreak in Congo Sparks Global Concern The Democratic Republic of Congo is grappling with its tenth outbreak of the highly contagious and deadly Ebola virus since 1976.
The current outbreak, which began in February 2020, has claimed over 2,000 lives and infected more than 3,300 people.
Ebola outbreaks have a long history in Africa, with previous occurrences in countries such as Sudan, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Republic of Congo, and Uganda.
