US Sees Drop in Opioid Overdose Deaths for Third Year

A Glimmer of Hope Amid Opioid Woes The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports nearly 70,000 predicted overdose deaths in 2025, a decline of almost 14 percent from the previous year.

This marks the third consecutive year of decline in what has been a devastating epidemic fueled largely by synthetic opioids.

Increased availability of naloxone, commonly sold under the brand Narcan, is a significant contributor to this drop.
